Expand your professional profile, study a postgraduate
After the Bologna Plan, a convergent process was initiated among the member countries of the European Economic Community, which aims to speed up the exchange of graduates and thus be able to adapt university studies to the real social demand, increasing their competitiveness and quality. It is a method of studies quantified through ECTS credits.
Although the Bologna Treaty is not a binding treaty, this process led to the creation of a European Higher Education Area. This led to the incorporation of different countries to the treaty that undertook educational reforms during the first years of the 21st century.
Differences between Master, Postgraduate and Specialization courses
In Spain, university degrees are divided into three cycles:
Grade. The classical degree is included in the first cycle.
Master’s / Postgraduate Second cycle.
Doctorate. Third cycle
They require between 60 and 120 ECTS credits and are usually taken in one or two school years, together with the presentation of a master’s thesis. The requirement is to enter with a degree or equivalent degree.
They offer a high degree of specialization with a professional orientation, these studies usually have between 30 and 60 ECTS credits. The registration of students without a university degree is allowed.
They are very short programs and the amount of ECTS credits are almost zero, from one point on, they do not require a university degree for access and focus on very specific and specific studies.
